Frequently Asked Questions
What is a ceramic tile?
+
Ceramic tiles are crafted from clay that is molded, cut to the desired shape and size, and then fired in a kiln, typically at around 1000° Celsius, until they harden. The firing process may vary depending on the finish required.
These versatile tiles can be used throughout your home, from floors to splashbacks and beyond. Choosing the right type and rating is crucial, as these factors determine the tile’s durability and water resistance.

What is a porcelain tile?
+
Porcelain tiles are a type of ceramic tile fired at a higher temperature, making them exceptionally strong, durable, and low-porous (with a water absorption rate of 0.5% or less). This makes them ideal for high-traffic areas, both indoors and outdoors.
They require minimal maintenance, simply vacuum or mop them once a week. Their dense composition makes them easy to clean and highly resistant to stains and damage.

What is the difference between rectified and non-rectified tiles?
+
Rectified tiles are precisely cut to achieve perfectly square edges, resulting in a sleek, modern, and uniform appearance ideal for contemporary designs. In contrast, non‑rectified tiles feature slightly rounded or “cushion-like” edges that lend a softer, more natural look. Due to the traditional manufacturing process, these tiles can exhibit minor variations in size, adding character to your space but requiring careful planning during installation to ensure a seamless finish.

What is a batch variation?
+
Each production run is assigned a unique “batch,” “shade,” or “dye lot” number. Variations in factors like humidity, raw materials, and dye composition can result in slight differences in color and size. We recommend that you have your tiler verify all measurements before placing an order to ensure consistency and avoid sourcing additional tiles from a different batch.
